  • Plumbing or electrical services located behind walls, above ceilings or below floors may be unintentionally damaged during the drilling procedure.
  • Drilling holes in ceramic, porcelain, marble and fiberglass may cause the material to crack or be damaged.
  • Walls ceilings or floors may not be strong enough to support all persons using the installed grab bar, handrail or support pole.

Advice for Renters and Condominium Owners

2For1GrabBar recommends that renters and condominium owners obtain permission to install grab bars from building owners and property managers prior to hiring any contractor to supply and install these types of bathroom safety aids. In both condominiums and apartments, there may be utilities and services located behind walls that can be unintentionally damaged during a grab bar installation. It’s important that your building management be made aware of the intention to install grab bars and authorize the work. Also, these buildings have different rules around, noise, work times and use of elevators. It’s in all of our best interests to have an open dialogue for the planning of grab bar installations in apartments and condominiums.
